The Traveler

TRAVELER

Graham Broyd

My first real travel vacation was a flight with my parents and brother to Guernsey in the Channel Islands in 1965. I was 7. Better weather, beaches, playing football with other families, the Gordon’s Special red cocktail at our hotel bar, a few palm trees, my parents appearing relaxed and sociable. This was very exotic and exciting.

Ever since then I have loved to travel far and wide. I accepted my first real job at Lloyds Bank International in London based on my assumption that they would enable my travel lust more than the other prospective employers.

I started blogging my trips on Facebook over 10 years ago, sitting up late in the evening, with a glass of something, and recounting the day’s events in writing with photographs, so I could live the day over again. I am now in the process of downloading those trips, doing some additional research, editing the photos and creating a series of Graham’s Great Adventures recounting those trips.

Myanmar and Galapagos, Budapest and Vietnam, Croatia and Machu Picchu, The Rhone Valley and the Douro River, California and Alaska. Every one a joy.
