Transformation and Change Management

Yiwei is a transformation leader with over 20 years of experience of building, managing, and transforming financial operations. He specializes in middle and back-office operating model, risk and controls – leading research, design and implementation of new markets, products, and regulatory initiatives.

Yiwei spent over 12 years at Bridgewater Associates during a period of dynamic growth and change from boutique to institution. As an operations and transformation manager, he spearheaded a multi-year, multi-vendor outsourcing initiative to transform its operations, implementing a unique tri-party “shadow” operating model with enhanced capabilities, controls, and redundancy. He also headed the product development team where he led the expansion of the investment product support including various listed and OTC derivatives, emerging market products, UCITs; as well as market and regulatory initiatives including Cleared Swaps, UMR, and Libor transition. Yiwei also led cross border teams to operationalized Bridgewater’s Chinese subsidiary and the successfully launch their first local onshore fund product, as well as stood up their on-going support infrastructure for continued expansion.

Prior to Bridgewater, Yiwei was an Associate Director at Bear Stearns Asset Management, responsible for the operations of their high-volume OTC portfolios. He was responsible for the day-to-day operations as well as continuous process improvements. He managed through the volatile period during the financial crisis, ensuring the orderly unwind and transition of the portfolios.

Yiwei’s early career included stints at a global custodian, a boutique fund manager, as well as several years at a start-up fund advisor, where he managed the growth of their operational support functions through early organic growth and two subsequent mergers to form a global advisory company with multi-billion dollars under management. Yiwei has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and Accounting from Baruch College, City University of New York.
