Jo has over 20 years of experience leading global financial markets’ risk and control teams, mostly at NatWest. During her 22 years with NatWest Markets in the US, Jo developed a solid reputation for delivering solutions including solving regulatory, strategic and process re-engineering challenges. She has strong project management skills and is outcome focused.

Jo has over 20 years of experience leading global financial markets’ risk and control teams, mostly at NatWest. During her 22 years with NatWest Markets in the US, Jo developed a solid reputation for delivering solutions including solving regulatory, strategic and process re-engineering challenges. She has strong project management skills and is outcome focused.

Jo led the Global First Line of Defense Risk and Control team across NatWest Markets from 2018-2020 specializing in all aspects of risk including conduct, business and operational risk. She overhauled the existing risk management framework to improve risk identification, reporting and monitoring for C-suite management and US, UK and European regulators.

Jo was critically responsible for remediating NatWest’s Federal Reserve Bank’s 2015 Cease and Desist Order in the US.  She was also actively involved in the Brexit Strategy for NatWest Markets including the set-up of the new 1LOD function in the Netherlands. Prior to her global role, Jo managed the Risk and Control function for the US including 3rd Party risk management.

Between 2009 -2016, Jo established and headed up Finance and Operations Change for NatWest in the US. She managed a multi-year investment portfolio for strategic and regulatory change which included:

  • Global Strategy Review leading to re-engineering of the operating model and resulting in a reduction-in-force and offshoring / outsourcing strategy,
  • Enhanced Prudential Standards (regulatory),
  • MRA, MRIA, Cease and Desist deliverables,
  • ABN integration of banking business and,
  • Closure of Global Transaction Services activity,
  • One of 10 Subject Matter Experts across NatWest Markets tasked with designing and replacing the global general ledger.

Jo’s earlier experience included managing various product control teams for the Rates, Currencies and Credit businesses. During this time Jo also led the development and implementation of a new Rates trading system, the replacement of the credit flow trading system and a regional general ledger. Jo led both the RBS and ABN trading integrations for finance.

Jo is passionate about people development and was a founding Steering Committee member of the US Women’s Network focused on female talent development and retention. She is a UK qualified accountant (A.C.C.A) and worked in private practice prior to moving into Financial Services.
